Updating of this landmark building in the downtown core to a LEED Gold building included the provision of two green roof areas. The green roofs provide benefits to the community through a reduction in the urban heat island effect; as well as improved views from adjacent buildings. The green roof areas are irrigated through on-site storm water collection. The storm water is collected into a cistern and is then utilized for irrigation of the green roofs. The result is improved employee engagement and productivity resulting from biophilic design, reduced cooling costs, and a reduction of storm water discharge from the site.
